The Making of A Vine Celebrity

The Making of a Vine Celebrity

There has NEVER been a time in the history of the planet when people had the ability to become instant "celebrities" as you can today. Think about it: Philip DeFranco, Rhett and Link, Justin Bieber - a person can be "discovered" instantly, just by posting a video - even a SIX SECOND video.

Read this article about a current Vine "celebrity", named Jerome Jarre. Take a look at the videos that are linked in the article also:

"Jerome Jarre: The Making of a Vine Celebrity"

Not only has this guy become famous in an instant, it looks like he's not just a "flash in the pan" because is seems as though he understands how to use social media apps to promote himself and other things around him. [Update: He and everyone else IS a "flash in the pan" as far as Vine is concerned - since they're pulling the plug on Vine!]

Had you heard of Jerome before reading the article? What do you think of what he's done on Vine?  What do you think about this kind of opportunity with mobile apps, such as Snapchat? Can anybody do it? Will such fame last, and is it something that can be made into a legitimate business?

HERE is his YouTube channel.

  1. Even though Jerome made millions and became famous by making videos, anyone can do it. You don't have to be talented to become famous in this way, just lucky. Sadly most of these platforms such as vine don't last forever so your fame is short lived but can still make your money in just a short time.

    1. I agree because you just need to be lucky and don't even need any talent at all. These platforms may not last forever, but that may be long enough to make you millions.

    2. I agree, everyone has some sort of talent it just takes the right time and place for someone/millions of people to see that talent. It just happens during the time of vine he posted the right talents, but like you said internet fame doesn't usually last very long

  2. Jerome was just lucky, his Vine was in the right place at the right time and thats what got him famous. You can get famous on the internet for doing almost nothing, and make millions.

    1. I agree because people are always on the internet watching videos and if your video is in the right place at the right time you could be lucky like Jerome.

    2. Even after his first vine with sky rocketed his profile, he still had to work to keep up with it. It may seem as though he got lucky, but he must've work hard to keep people interested in him.

    3. I also agree because everyone is always on the internet watching youtube or playing games. If the videos are in the right place and at the right time you could get really just lucky like Jerome.

    4. Yeah, he knew what aspects he had to target (audience, place, time, online-status, etc). It can take a lot of hit/misses to nail it right on the head and score the chance to become famous (at least for a bit)

  3. Jerome may have made millions from his videos, but anyone can become famous from making them if they're in the right place at the right time. He was just lucky. Doing just about anything and publishing it on the internet could get you famous, if you're lucky.

    1. I agree, but if just anyone famous then wouldn't we all be? I think that you have to know how to target the audience very well and be very dedicated to become famous like that.

    2. There are so many dumb vine videos so it can be pretty hard to make good original ones that people will enjoy.

    3. Exactly, any new social media platform can quickly become dominated by the people who use it first. Luck was a major part of his success and could have happened to anyone. As long as you are a little cleaver and goofy at the same time, you can make it on the internet.

    4. I agree he was just in the right spot at the right time and now he is famous

  4. Anyone can do it, anyone can get famous. You just need to know your target audience that your making these videos for. Jerome managed to get his target audience intrigued by spreading kindness, which rapidly widened his audience, which spread his name, which earned him more revenue, which earned him more views, etc etc. So yes, he might've been lucky but he knew his focused audience.

    1. These are very good points. Jerome knew exactly what he wanted so he went for it. He earned his fame

    4. You certainly have to know what you are doing but luck was a huge factor. Once you get lucky on a few videos its easy to maintain a large audience that will support you. He made his millions by doing something he liked to do, I'm sure he became more focused the bigger his audience got.

  5. I don't think that just anyone could be famous in an instant because if that was the case I think we would all be famous. The fame could last for a few years but after a while peoples taste in people change and they are on to the next person. I think that this could be a legitimate business while it lasts but it's not a for sure thing because just as fast as you got famous you could lose it.

    1. I think that if you continue to push your content and think of new concepts of reeling people in you could easily keep a grip on your fame.

    2. Thats true with all people having different talents you have to have the right talent at the right time to become noticed and when you do it is hard to keep your talent realevent for very long escpecially online

  6. I agree with you he got lucky in the right place at the right time, he can make a living off of this I think because a lot of people are famous for things that they shouldn't be famous for.

  7. Jerome may have just gotten lucky with the videos he was putting out but I believe if your are focused and driven to make it a career it is possible. People change, our taste changes and new things become trends. However, if you are willing to put the time and effort in and change with the people to keep them satisfied and expand your audience and platform then you could very well turn this into a lasting business.

  8. I think anyone can get famous if they try hard enough. Jerome knew it was the right time for him to get out there as vine was becoming more popular. Although it may seem easy to some people Jerome really did work and put effort into dong what he did which obviously paid off for him.

  10. Jerome made millions by making vines. I think that he was lucky, but he also worked for it. The fame could last a little while, but most likely not forever.

    1. I agree. It does take a sense of humor to become internet famous, but it I don't think the fame will last more than a few years.

  11. I think it is not as easy as people think it is to get famous online. For example it took Shane Dawson 10 years to get 1 million subscribers on youtube, but it took Logan Paul less than a year. It depends on how much work you put into it, and the content you are putting out there. You have to be able to relate to your subscribers and share content that is appealing to all types of people.

    1. It probably is quite hard to get famous on social media. I think if you know the right people and have the intelligence you will be more likely to gain fame.

    4. I agree, you can get famous if you're lucky, or if you have good work ethic and what demographic you're trying to go after.

    5. I agree with what Sabastian said. It really depends on luck, your work ethic, the kind of content you're making, and/or the audience you're aiming at.

    6. I also agree with Sabastian you have to be lucky you can make youtube your whole life and you can still have only like 50,000 subs

  12. Never heard of dude man. I think it would be awesome to be famous and it wouldn't be too hard if I made funny videos or something. I don't know if these people actually make a lot of money. but the money they make should be invested in gaining more fame because I don't think it will last too long if you don't.

    1. Yup. Fame and an ongoing stream of money won't last unless you put more money and work into making more videos. And it especially won't last if you only make 1 and just leave it.

    2. I agree, because you won't stay famous for long unless you invest to something bigger and better.

    3. With you there. Fame on the internet is almost always short lived, however I can't see his channel dying anytime soon. People will like him for the sole fact he is famouse.

  13. I think most of his fame was simply because of funny videos. I've never heard of him and I know a lot of other people haven't so he must not be super famous. Internet fame doesn't last forever and soon people will forget about him.

  14. I think he just got lucky. anybody can post a video and get "famous" just like that. it all depends on who finds it funny and who has seen it and when they've seen it.

  15. If anyone could be famous we would all be famous and making millions, I mean it really not that hard to become famous you can post a funny video and you can become famous but you have to be in the right places in the right time.

    1. I agree as long as you are posting the right thing at the right time then anyone could become famous. I think that anyone could do it but if you do become famous you should have another job because making videos on the internet only takes so much time and it might not last forever.

  16. I think anyone can do it as long as they can make people laugh and get a good audience, but i don't think they will last unless they are introduced to a different platform like youtube. I think you can make a legit business out of it eventually, if you are lucky.

  17. I don't think people's fame will last to long if they stick to one platform. Every year a new app or social media website is coming out. Just like vine I believe that eventually websites like Youtube and Instagram will die out.

  18. I think jerome got pretty luck with making millions off of his vines for just putting them out there i think he just got lucky when he was in the right spot in the right time

    1. I don't think luck had anything to do with it, he made his videos in an intellegent manner, making his target audiance as wide as possible to give himself the best chance at being famouse.

  19. I feel that it depends on what kind of videos and the audience you're making your videos for matters. For example, YouTube could be used for multiple different audiences, making it an ideal place to make and post videos there and try to become internet famous.

  20. When making videos on the internet, you have to be smart about it, while makeing content for a particular group of people is a great way to get a foothold, it won't get you farther. After that you have to widen your target range. So by saying he wsa lucky, he wasn't. the interenet doesn't work like that. One video gping viral in one area won't make it memorable, make an actual memorable video to everyone will.

  21. I think online fame is a very interesting topic, You have to posses the right talent and the right skills at the right time to become noticed, you have to be different, but not to different and when you do become noticed its justa matter of how long you can stay realevent in a constantly evolving world.

  22. Even though Jerome made millions by making videos. Anyone can do it you just have to be lucky. I have a youtube channel and i got 1 luckey video that game me 7000 subscriders. so im restating you have to be lucky.
